When caught in the dilemma of whether to "zero out" or "coexist" with SARS-CoV-2, people forget who should be responsible for it. In fact, the answer to this question is quite obvious: from beginning to end, the government of the People's Republic of China should be fully responsible for the results of their prevention and control measures.
Generally speaking, to discuss responsibility, we must first discuss subjectivity. However, subjectivity is something that exists when claimed and does not exist when denied, and it is difficult to have a clear standard to define it. Nevertheless, since our subject of discussion has always claimed its subjectivity, let us treat it as something with subjectivity.
Regardless of how governments of various countries argue about the origin of SARS-CoV-2, and regardless of how the Chinese government evades responsibility with ambiguous words, it is an undeniable fact that SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia first broke out in Wuhan. It was the Wuhan government's disregard for warnings and suppression of whistleblowers that led to the first outbreak of SARS-CoV-2 in the entire People's Republic of China. As for whether SARS-CoV-2 had already spread to other countries before this, according to my memory, there were cases in other countries before the "whistleblowing," so the Chinese government and the Wuhan government are not responsible for that. However, the Chinese government must be held responsible for the following series of events:
- The unreasonable social and economic structure, urban planning, etc., resulting in insufficient medical resources in various regions (measured by indicators such as available hospitals per capita, beds per capita, or ventilators per capita).
- Advocating traditional Chinese medicine treatment for SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia due to the interests of certain groups, providing patients with "medications" that are not only ineffective but also have liver/kidney toxicity for "treatment."
- Also due to the interests of certain groups, delaying the authorization of mRNA vaccines within the effective jurisdiction; vigorously promoting or mandating the use of low-efficiency inactivated vaccines that have only 60%-70% effectiveness against the original strain within the effective jurisdiction.
- Abusing nucleic acid testing, increasing unnecessary costs (although often not directly borne by the tested individuals), and causing the risk of cluster transmission.
- Concealing data on SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia epidemic, such as confirmed cases, deaths, asymptomatic cases, etc.
- Inconsistent criteria for counting the number of deaths compared to the world mainstream (die of vs. die with).
- Numerous crimes in media propaganda/information warfare, not elaborated here.
People who oppose the widespread implementation of "coexistence" within China (like me) often say that China is not yet ready for "coexistence." But why is that? The Chinese government is still the one responsible for it. It is the government's economic policies and urban planning that have led to insufficient medical resources in various regions; it is the government that allows the use of ineffective "medications" for patients; it is the government that has refused widespread vaccination with mRNA vaccines, thus failing to establish an immune barrier; it is the government that has abused nucleic acid testing, causing further cluster transmission; it is the government that has consistently concealed data on SARS-CoV-2 pneumonia epidemic, leaving people unable to take preventive measures on their own; it is the government that has been creating false information, deceiving its own people. Among these, points 1-3 are the main reasons why China is not ready for "coexistence."
People who oppose the current prevention and control measures (like me) also argue that these measures have brought many side effects and caused many unnecessary deaths. Who should be responsible for this? It is still the Chinese government and its bureaucratic system.
In any case, whether it is "zero tolerance," "coexistence," or abandoning binary thinking, the Chinese government should be fully responsible for its actions. At the same time, the faults of those in power are not the responsibility of those being governed. The Chinese people are the victims of the Chinese government.
